One of the entrepreneur’s I follow for founder stuff has been sharing some BTS of his wife, Lyndsey’s, Pilates studio launch.  I’m enjoying his posts, in particular the ones about finances and early marketing. Here’s one post, but there are more on LinkedIn and Instagram.

Listen to F1 driver Oscar Piastri answer the question: “How was your beginners Pilates class?”

📰 In the News

I tell this to all my classes: “Just like babies need tummy time to help develop upright posture, adults do too!”  Vogue writes all about it.

Aldi’s £150 reformer causes in-store chaos in the UK prompting them to implement a first-come-first-serve ticketing system.  Check out this on-scene video on TikTok.

Amy Jordan’s WondaBar Pilates has joined Anthony Geisler’s latest fitness franchise as Pilates Addiction. I previously covered Anthony’s latest franchise move (No6), and Sarah Luna, the former XPonential exec and now CEO of Pilates Addiction (No5), but didn’t put those moves together with Amy and WondaBar.  On instagram, she says it won’t affect ownership, equipment, etc. but the class offerings and “look” of the studios will be upgraded.  Pilates Addiction is pushing its opening weekend with a guest appearance by Mario and Courtney Lopez.

Is this a pay-to-play article? Or real reporting?  Athletech News talks about how MindBody Online is at the center of Studio Pilates’ expansion to over 115 studios in six countries.  You know I love data, but this article reads more like an ad than anything useful.

🔎 Research and Tech

A small study showed significant improvement in common performance metrics of amateur soccer (*ahem* football) players.  Reformer Pilates showed the most significant impact, followed by mat Pilates.  The control group did not show any significant change between pre-test and post-test results.  This seems exciting, however, reader beware! The control group did not have a comparable strength or cross-training program, so we only learned that adding Pilates to a soccer training program is beneficial, NOT that it is better or worse than other training like traditional weights.
